From teaching high school chemistry and math in the start of her career to becoming the new Executive Director of Heron’s Key, Amy Webb has always had a passion for mentoring and teaching others.
Originally from Columbus, Ohio, Amy has spent the majority of her life in the Pacific Northwest. Her passion for senior living led her to Heron’s Key where she has made it her mission to create an environment where residents and staff feel valued.
“It is important to me that our staff and residents feel heard,” Amy said. “The quality of care for residents should reflect the vibrant and talented people that live and work here.”
Amy holds more than 20 years of experience in senior care and earned a bachelor of arts degree in education, bachelor of science degree in occupational therapy and certification in project management from the University of Washington.
In her years as an educator, occupational therapist, hospital administrator and senior living executive, Amy has discovered the joy of mentoring and the key to maintaining a strong community is listening to others.
“The best part of my day is when I get to round and interact with residents and staff,” Amy said. “I get to hear what is going on, how everyone is doing, share in celebrations, support in sorrows and can better understand where help is needed to achieve our vision.”
Amy believes in managing by appreciation and confirms that staff is a community’s greatest asset in providing high quality care to residents.
“Heron’s Key is filled with incredibly civic minded people and there is a real sense of volunteerism and involvement throughout the community.” Amy said. “My goal is to support Heron’s Key continued growth and uphold its status as as a vibrant, caring community of choice for senior living.”
In her spare time, Amy enjoys fiber arts like spinning yarn and knitting or getting out on the water and kayaking with her husband and two Austrian Shepherds, Chester and Earl.
