Our memory care approach focuses on engaging residents with activities that focus on residents’ abilities and strengths, fostering independence, reducing anxiety and building self-worth and purpose. Our team works to create meaningful activities that meet residents where they are in their abilities, reducing agitation and anxiety, building self-worth.
At The Lighthouse, residents enjoy three delicious, chef-prepared meals each day, thoughtfully designed in coordination with our on-staff nutritionist to ensure they’re as nourishing as they are flavorful. From hearty breakfasts to satisfying dinners—and a variety of snacks in between—each bite is crafted with care to support health, energy, and enjoyment. It’s dining that feels indulgent, yet supports our residents’ dietary needs every step of the way.    
At The Lighthouse, our secure memory care neighborhood within Penrose Harbor at Heron’s Key, residents benefit from a wide range of engaging, person-centered activities designed to support cognitive and emotional well-being. From independent skill stations and volunteer roles to cooking classes, Saido Learning, sing-alongs, music therapy, and outdoor sensory garden experiences, our memory care program promotes stimulation, purpose, and connection every day.

Memory Care Frequently Asked Questions

Memory Care provides a distinct combination of individualized care, familiar neighborhood surroundings and professional expertise specifically designed for those with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. Residents live in a secure environment focused on their comfort and safety. Licensed, compassionate team members specially trained in Memory Care assist residents with daily tasks as needed. Residents take part in a full range of activities that are customized to meet individual interests and capabilities.
Memory Care offers all the services of Assisted Living, plus:
  • A secure indoor environment and a secure outdoor courtyard
  • Activities specifically designed for those with memory loss
  • Staff trained in dealing with symptoms of dementia, including stress, confusion and agitation
  • 24-hour supervision
